Dr. Frankie Hutton will introduce the Rose Project and delve into the Semiotics of the quintessential flower in the universe to provide primordial insights. Her presentation is based on the book, Rose Lore, now published in 4 editions, including an audio book CD version, which will be available at the reception following her talk. The book is award winning and was just published in a special edition by Peking University Press in China, in the mandarin language. As an outgrowth of the book which explores the cultural, semiotic and historical aspects of the rose, Frankie launched the Rose Project, backed by a team of scholars and researchers from all over the globe, including humanitarian, scholar Dr. Tobe Levin and local resident anthropologist, Uma Swaminathan, who wrote a series of essays which explore the cultural, historical and semiotic wonders of the rose.
